“Magic is ever present
in the knowing woods
Forests, trees, our wild world
have been regarded
sacred for a very very long time
Egyptian sycamores Roman figs
and the Indian bo
Scandinavian ash and Europe’s mighty oak
These trees, these forests
these streams rivers waters
How majestically they grow
how magnificently they flourish
how wonderfully symbiotic they exist
when untouched by the harsh
greed of man.
Our people need not
destroy, demolish, obliterate
that which we don’t fully understand
We must become educated
of our mystical planet
We must learn the many cycles
the infinite connections
the ways and wonder
of our wild world
We must allow natural order
nature’s magic
to unfurl
to Be
After all,
“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.”
And so it is
Every thing
Every one
Every bit of existence
is interwoven
is connected
is a part
of everything
we know
as existence
Let us then
Care
Love
Respect
all that is
all that was
before us
all that is to come
after we have gone
Over 90% of our world’s ancient forests have been cut, burned, logged, destroyed. 300 years of untouched growth are required to create an old growth forest. Never again in our lifetimes, in our next generation’s, or even the next will there be a renewal of that which has been demolished. Let us protect what remains. It is all we will ever have. Long before our grandparents were born, those mighty centries grew quietly, slowly, providing homes, oxygen, life to this world. They grew ever taller, ever more wise, until their blasphemous demise at the cost of human greed. People’s disease of entitlement. A faulty sense of ownership over those who’ve been here long long long before they.
Why must people take, destroy, abuse beings with no defense?
Why must our race continue to pillage these forest ecosystems leaving smouldering ruin in wake?
This destruction needs to stop.
We need to speak for those with no voice.
We need to stand tall against injustice.
We need to unite in efforts of conservation.”
